Nesting

I now have two weeks until I get back to work. I received an email stating that I will receive a formal job offer next week. It’s pretty exciting. I’m looking forward to the new position as I think the job will be somewhat challenging and will use my brain more than any other job I’ve had.

In the meantime, I want to make the most of the free time I have left.

Yesterday I went for a 1+ hour walk, looking for objects to finish the work I’ve done redecorating my bedroom. I painted three pieces of furniture white so that, mixed with the blonde wood furniture, I have a more blank pallet to work with. The wood pieces have a “country” feel to them and I’ve requested a quilted wall hanging to put over my bed:

Little Bird Quilt

I want to carry on the bird motif a little further, but I don’t want it to overtake the space. Any object I buy must also be functional as I’m not a fan of tchotchkes and want to keep my surfaces as bare as possible. I’ve decided I need wall hooks to hang my clothes on and a jewelry stand/organizer of some sort. I found the some pieces on the Umbra.com website:

Twigsy Wall Hook

Birdseye Multihook

Bauble and

Twigsy

I think the Twigsy Wall Hook and Bauble will work, however, I’m not crazy about the finish on either of them. They are too stark and shiny for the soft feel of the room. I could spray paint them a matte nickel finish, which would work better.

However, I also found the following:

Four Birds Hook

It has the right feel to it, but has a bit heavier a look than I want.

And then there’s the question of bookends. I’m torn between:

Owl Bookends and
Lovebird Bookends

So many decisions to make. Although it is just a personal project that doesn’t really have a deadline, I would like to have it done before I go back to work. Not sure that’s going to happen, though as I don’t want to spend any more money on the project until I have an income.
